Hello and welcome to my first newsletter! As you likely already know, I'm Marisa, and I'm a St. Paul, Minnesota-based writer and editor covering beauty, fashion, lifestyle. I'm currently contributing to a various outlets including POPSUGAR, Allure, Real Simple, Oprah Daily, Us Weekly, and more.
I'll admit: At this point in my career, my gigs are all over the place, ranging from celebrity interviews for UsMagazine.com to deep-dive features for Artful Living Magazine. The beauty of my diverse scope of work certainly keep things interesting, albeit chaotic at times. I’m hoping this newsletter helps streamline the process for all of us.
What you can expect from this newsletter is ramblings about my life for my friends and family who so-kindly subscribed to this because they have to, as well as insight into what I'm currently working on. I'm hoping this newsletter will help us develop a more intimate understanding of what I'm working on so that we can foster productive conversations and even friendships.
For those who haven't worked with me before, I've been in the industry since 2017. I used to live in NYC, and previously worked full-time at POPSUGAR, Us Weekly, and GRAZIA USA. I went freelance in July of 2021 when my fiancé was accepted to medical school at the University of Minnesota. We uprooted with our dog, Cooper, piled all of our belongings into my Mini Cooper, and transplanted to the Midwest. And voilà—you're basically up-to-date.

Mailer Shoutout: Laura Geller / Small Girls PR
I thought this mailer was so thoughtfully—and beautifully—curated, and they were courteous to only send a match for my exact skin tone so as to not overwhelm me + my ~cozy~ one-bedroom apt with product. And I thought it was really clever how both the Skims socks and hair clips mirror a skin tone-inspired color palette.
